Why Real Estate Videos Are Important For Your Listings

Marketing homes is an important task for real estate agents. Read on to learn more about the type of real estate videos we do, how we do them, and why they are important for your next home listing!

In the world of real estate, marketing a home is now far more than just quality photos on the MLS.

With technology and social media in our tool kit, we can now make quality videos to be posted on websites, social media, and more.

We encourage our real estate clients to include videos with their photos to entice buyers further. Whether vertical videos for social media, or horizontal for YouTube and websites, videos are a great way to market a home for sale!

Continue reading to see what equipment we use, the process, and examples of real estate videos we’ve done recently.

Types of Real Estate Videos We Offer

We love to shoot videos and edit them in our client's vision. First, there are a few things to decide before we shoot the video.

  • Vertical vs Horizontal: Do you want a video for social media or YouTube and your website? Consider vertical videos if you want to entice buyers on social media as most people are going to view the video on their mobile devices. If you want to post a longer more detailed video, consider a horizontal video for YouTube or your website!

  • Voiceover vs Music: Do you want to appear in the video talking about the best qualities of the home? Or do you simply want the video to highlight the home with a catchy tune? Both are great options, and it comes down to whether or not you’re comfortable being in front of the camera!

  • Home vs Surrounding Area: Do you want us to focus on the house exterior, interior, or both? Or do you want us to focus on the surrounding areas and what the community nearby has to offer? Tell us how you want to sell the home and we’ll do our best to make that video dream come true.

Equipment and Process

Once we have an idea of what our real estate client wants, we get to work on planning when and how we’ll capture the video.

The first step is to consider what equipment we’ll bring with us. Our favorite for video is our little but powerful DJI Pocket 3 camera. This camera was built for creators and has an incredible amount of qualities that produce high-quality videos.

To capture a birds-eye view of the home and surrounding area, we love to use our drone. We are licensed and take laws into account, so if you are interested in getting a video with our drone, we can do so.

And finally, if our realtor client wants to be in the video, we have quality inconspicuous mics that connect well with our cameras. This way the video will have clear sound, even with cars, planes, mowers, trains, and other loud sounds nearby!

Want to be in the video, but camera shy?

Speaking of appearing in videos, we also have a copywriter on staff who will write a simple script for our real estate clients.

She will write the script based on how the realtor wants to market the home, write out cue cards, and be present for the shoot. This script is always sent to the realtor beforehand so they can practice or change the wording so it feels more natural.

Our goal is to always make our real estate clients who appear in the video to be at ease. While one of us is handling the equipment and shooting the footage, the other may be holding cue cards or ensuring the realtor's hair isn’t in their face!

After the video has been captured, then we will go through the editing process and alert the real estate agent once the final is done and ready to download.

Let’s see some videos!

Below are examples of videos that we have done recently for our real estate agent clients, and one bonus for our short-term rental clients! Scroll down to watch and learn more about them.

Our realtor client wanted to appear in this video at the beginning and the end of the video. It was important to him that he shared important details of the home and marketed himself at the same time.

This home was still in the process of being built, so our realtor client wanted to focus more on the community surrounding this home. And what a beautiful area it is!

A home that is located with a popular golf course in its backyard deserves beautiful drone footage! This home in the California foothills was a perfect candidate for drone video.

Walk-through and slow spanning of home interior spaces is a popular way to market a home. This house in particular had many great features that the realtor wanted to highlight in a video for social media, so we shot it all vertically.

Are you a short-term rental homeowner? If so, you have many reasons to also get quality vertical and horizontal videos of your rental properties. Our client here wanted a video that would play on the TV as guests first entered their room and wanted to highlight the exterior spaces of the retreat. It’s so creative and a great way to make your guest's stay even more special!
